The lion in the photos was made during the first semester of Summer Camp ’09 by all attendees. At the performance, the lion dance was such a success with the crowd that several encores were required!

The Summer Camp happens in two sessions. This year’s schedule is below, but if you want more information, you can click on the link to see oursummer camp brochure, or look at our special Summer Camp information section (linked on the left side of your screen). It contains lots of pictures from our most recent adventures, and even some playwriting from this year’s campers!

Session 2:  July 13 – July 31 (M-F 12-5pm)

June 13th Certification Exams and end of the semester party (10am-2pm)

We will have a pizza party lunch to celebrate and will watch some excerpts (I will not be showing any film in its entirety so as to avoid anything controversial -  I am just going to pick a few short segments)from some well known kung fu movies.  I am asking for each parent to bring $20 per child.  This will cover each of their personal framed certificates, award ribbon, their “gold bar” patches,  official photo, (individual and group) and the pizza lunch.

June 14 – June 22, Summer Vacation Break.

Tuesday, June 9th Radio Show “Making A Difference” (6:30pm-8:00pm)

radio-picturewww.lovebroadcasting.net/, click on schedule for “heavensgateway” and scroll down to Tuesday at 7pm, the program is called “Making  A Difference,” Hosted by Erica Wakefield.

We have been invited to do a special radio program.  I will spend part of the next couple of classes working on a writing project to help prepare the kids to share their feelings and ideas about their kung fu training and how it has helped them. I will also be sending home some info so you can help them prepare as well.  The program is 1 hour long, so each child will get a chance to present (they will be able to read from what they have prepared), and we will have some free form discussion as well as some working out. The radio studio is just down the street form the school on Main.  The program

begins at 7, so well need to meet at the studio at 6:30 to prepare. Parents are welcome to stay and watch! My friend Erica Wakefield regularly hosts the program “Making a Difference” and is really excited about hearing from the kids about how kung fu has made a difference for them.  Please check out the link for more info and directions.

Saturday, May 30th, Video-shoot at Kung Fu School (10am-11pm)

Local Videographer Cynthia Hall will be shooting video footage during our normal class time. She will then be producing a short video that we will use on our web site to help people learn more about our kids kung fu programs.  She will also be doing a follow up piece about our special summer camp.  Cynthia is a long time friend of mine – she is a consummate professional and is really excited about working with the kung fu kids!
