As a martial art, Ving Tsun can be deadly, and we respect it and take it seriously. At the same time, we train with a relaxed manner and attitude, learning and growing from our mistakes, and seeing the humor in them. The ability to fight and win comes easily and quickly, but mastery of Ving Tsun training and form, and discovery and perfection of all the details and levels in the system, is challenging. The system and exercises are simple to do, but require hard work and humility to reach expertise and mastery levels. Training is challenging and the discipline builds character, in addition to practical knowledge, skill and wisdom. The sense of achievement that comes from difficult accomplishments makes it even more worthwhile.
The skills gained last a lifetime; once you’ve put in the proper foundation, the principles become second nature. Your kung fu (your ability, your understanding of the system and techniques) will continue to grow throughout your life, even if you take a break or retire from training after completing your program. Should you need it, your kung fu will be there for you.
