Efficient & effective training for fighting
The Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu system for martial arts training was designed to train human beings to fight efficiently and effectively. It does not require size or strength, making it good for anyone, and ideal for those of smaller stature, including women and kids. Training in the Ving Tsun system, under a qualified sifu (teacher), enables practitioners to overcome attackers that are larger, stronger, faster and more experienced.
Some of the main principles in both training and fighting are: facing the opponent with the centerline; efficient use of energy and movement; relaxation; and the horse stances, which enable practitioners to stand, move, strike and kick with great stability, speed and power, blocking and striking simultaneously. Ving Tsun Kung Fu gives properly-trained students the best chance of winning, even against multiple opponents, in a real fight, where there are no rules.
Simple for self-defense, challenging to master
Training consists of practicing forms; two-person drills; technique and conditioning drills; and practical applications. We train in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to participants. Classes are challenging and fun, as well as relaxed and informal, with an emphasis on training. Even one year of training is invaluable, but within 2-4 years, someone who works hard can become expert in the system. In two years, a diligent student can learn the 3 empty hand forms (Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Je), the Muk Yan Jong (wooden dummy form) and basic training for the Luk Dim Poon Kwan (long pole form). If you only train 2-4 years, you will develop kung fu energy and skills that will stay with you and grow throughout your life.
Through Ving Tsun training one can become a proficient fighter in a short time, but completely grasping the nature of the system, mastering your own training and qualifying as a sifu in the Moy Tung lineage can take a decade or more, though someone who works very hard might be able to do it in five years. The system is rich enough in detail and potential that it can provide a lifetime of fascinating and rewarding study.
