Ving Tsun (wing chun) Women’s program
Defend without strength
Women need a way to protect themselves that doesn’t rely on size or strength. Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu martial arts training offers exactly that, and women’s self-defense classes at the Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy are designed for women in the modern world.
The Ving Tsun Kung Fu system was developed by the Shaolin Buddhist nun Ng Moy and a young woman she befriended, Yim Ving Tsun, in 17th Century China. It has become one of the world’s most popular martial arts because of its efficiency and effectiveness for self-defense. The Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy has been teaching Ving Tsun exclusively since 1986, and we offer self-defense training for women of all ages and body types.
Beginner men and women train in separate classes, so you can focus on yourself and your kung fu. You can develop the kung fu skills and power you need for self-defense by training on your own and with other women. You can develop knock-out punching power – the confidence that comes with that may keep you from having to use it.
Power to protect yourself
The Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy’s self-defense classes for women involve traditional kung fu training methods that will give you effective fighting skill and confidence. Ving Tsun training consists primarily of practicing forms for power and technique; conditioning drills; two-person exercises that improve relaxation and skill; and study of practical applications for real-world self-defense.
You will develop a strong horse stance so you can stay on your feet if attacked, and powerful hands that can simultaneously defend against strikes and deliver powerful blows to quickly take the fight out of an attacker. You will become more confident on the street, at home and in the workplace, because you know you can take care of yourself.
